Carrie Prejean: A Poor Christian Witness

I don’t know much about Carrie Prejean.  I do recall that it was because of her Christian faith that she gave her statements about same-sex marriage.  That was laudable.  What’s not laudable though is who she is as a Christian.

What is a follower of Christ doing in a beauty pagaent, which flaunts the body, is demeaning to women and is sexist at best?

What is a follower of Christ doing posing for semi-nude photos?

What is a follower of Christ doing attracting so much attention to herself?

Carrie could have been a much better witness serving at a local church.  I don’t know what she was thinking in pursuing this beauty title.  And now, her story ends ignobly.  God was definitely not glorified.  Christians need to do a lot better than this if they’re going to convince the world that God is real.
